It all started with a group of social workers with a vision to provide the little things that really help create as normal a childhood experience as possible for youth in foster care. 35 years later, Treehouse not only provides direct support to more than 3,000 young people in foster care while doubling down on their commitment to change the systems that impact Washington’s young people by addressing the education and child welfare laws, policies, and practices that aren’t working for kids in Washington State.

Pasados Safe Haven

KIRO Newsradio’s Colleen O’Brien and Lola Bryan from Pasado’s Safe Haven discuss the emotional story of a beloved Donkey named Pasado who lived at Kelsey Creek Farm but was brutally beaten and killed in 1993. Outraged that the killers were let off, Founder Susan Michaels took it upon herself to make a difference in Washington State to make animal cruelty a felony and eventually started a sanctuary for animals. Twenty years later, Lola and the team at Pasado’s Safe Haven have made amazing progress to protect animals in Washington State.
