Planned Giving

A legacy gift is one way to keep supporting the values you care about, now and in the future. Whether it’s adding Edmonds Food Bank to your will, naming us as a beneficiary on a retirement or life insurance plan, or working with your advisor on something more complex, your gift can help ensure our shelves stay stocked and our doors stay open for generations to come.

I am impressed with the philosophy and effectiveness of the EFB leadership & organization, as well as the dedication and passion for supporting our community that is so very evident among the staff and volunteers. As a volunteer, I have developed a greater understanding of the extent of food insecurity in our communityI don’t want anybody to go without enough food.”

– Kate, on why she made a legacy gift to The Edmonds Food Bank

At Edmonds Food Bank, we believe no one in our community should go hungry. Since becoming an independent nonprofit in 2019, we’ve worked hard to make sure that anyone facing food insecurity in the greater Edmonds area can find healthy, nourishing food, no matter their circumstances.

Our vision is simple: a community where everyone is food secure.

You can be part of making that future possible.

Many of our supporters have included the Edmonds Food Bank in their wills. If the food bank has been meaningful to you, we invite you to consider including us in your plans. It’s a powerful way to keep helping people, even years from now.

A gift like that creates something lasting: a legacy of care, community, and shared strength.

Your gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after all other provisions are specified. Below is suggested language to use when drafting your will*:

  • For an unrestricted gift that allows the Edmonds Food Bank to determine how to use the funds based on the most pressing needs, use the following language for your will and/or trust: “After fulfilling all other provisions, I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to the  Edmonds Food Bank (Federal Tax ID: 84-2209131), currently located in Edmonds at 828 Caspers St, L100, Edmonds, WA, 98020, ______ [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose.”
  • To designate your provision for a particular purpose: “I give to the Edmonds Food Bank, a nonprofit corporation currently located in Edmonds at 828 Caspers St, L100, Edmonds, WA, 98020, _________ [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property]. This gift should be used for (state purpose) if and so long as the Edmonds Food Bank determines that the need exists. If the Edmonds Food Bank shall determine at the outset or at a later time that the need does not exist, or no longer exists, or for some reason it is not possible (or prudent) to administer my gift as originally intended, then the Edmonds Food Bank may, in its sole and uncontrolled discretion, direct the use of my bequest for a purpose related as closely as possible to that stated above.”

*Suggested language only, please consult with your financial and legal advisors to create an estate plan.

If you have named the Edmonds Food Bank in your will or trust, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. Notifying us of your plans will enable us to plan for the use of your future gift. However, if you prefer to remain anonymous, we will keep your name and gift in strict confidence.
