The Edmonds Food Bank helps to feed an unbelievable number of families — nearly 1,000 families a week — and among their most pressing and persistent needs is bread. As food bank volunteer Tom Treanor says, “it’s a big factor for us. We’re consistently short on sliced bread; we only get 15 to 20% of what we need.”

Food insecurity is real, even in Edmonds. Our food bank feeds nearly 800 families each week — almost double the number of clients served during the pandemic – and they’re hungry for your extra zucchini… and rhubarb and beans and tomatoes.
It was still September when the first holiday toy catalog arrived in my mailbox. I retrieved it on my way inside after working at the Edmonds Food Bank, where I serve as the marketing and communications coordinator.
With food banks across the state facing a critical shortage of volunteers, the Seattle Seahawks, Northwest Harvest, Safeway and the Washington Food Coalition have teamed up to kick off a new campaign aimed at swelling the volunteer ranks.
Edmonds Food Bank customers received gifts of bikes, books and berries during an event at Edmonds Presbyterian Church Saturday.
Edmonds Food Bank is currently serving 600-800 households each week and that includes seniors who rely on delivery from the food bank.
